Works as advertised!

I purchased the V6 AutoGen controller for my manual Predator 9500 inverter generator so that it could start the generator automatically in case of a power outage and power my house. After many weeks of trial and error and LOTS OF HELP from customer service, the controller is finally working properly. Be careful while wiring the controller, I made a mistake and wired the controller directly to the generator without using relays and accidentally burned out the starter pin #4 (the controller can only handle 1A of max current), but the controller still managed to work after using customer support’s suggestion of repurposing pin #5 as a starter pin. So far im happy with the controller and I recommend it.

V2 Auto gen 24 volts for Honda EU 3000is

WOW !!! The Best After Sales Service In My Life.

I bought a 24 volt V2 auto gen control to run my generator especially for late fall and winter to run my 120 volt refrigerator and radiant floor system.
The generator serves as a back up to my solar panels to recharge my battery bank
I installed it on a Honda generator 3000is and everything works fine.
I want to thank Nick for his extraordinary kindness and patience.
Believe me you will not be disappointed.

Thank you for your review Daniel.
It was a pleasure!

One of a kind of product and support

I purchased the AutoGen V2 as a solution to make a portable generator to become a standby generator for a small FM radio transmitter shack. Nick Alexander was there the whole time -- before and after the sale. His support and immediate help (when possible) will win your confidence to see your project end successfully.

Dual gen of grid setup

Have two Autogen v2 systems setup to keep a constant power source on a remote location.

Main generator turns off and on via the Autogen v2 on a set timer. When it turns off, the propane generator kicks in for the remainder of the day.

Excellent system, excellent support. Nick wrote some custom code specifically for this operation.

Thanks again!

Glad to help out with the installation Cee.
I must admit, it was a fun project!

Where have you been all my life

I ran across the controller on YouTube. The poster had a portable generator that he was converting to automatic start when the grid went down. After watching the video%2C I was online and ordered the AutoGen X controller. It arrived in a couple of weeks because I’m in Mexico and nothing is fast. I wasn’t able to install right away because of a hurricane and then all the grid shenanigans that followed. I started the install yesterday afternoon and finished this morning. About 3 hours because I’m slow and I didn’t want to encourage any stupid mistakes. Everything is working thanks to Elena and Nick for all of their gracious help. Now I’m ready for a power outage%21 I would highly recommend their controllers not only for the quality but their service as well.

15 years off the grid using older back-up generator

As full-time off-gridders since 2008, our remote location makes it difficult to maintain our batteries if we are absent during weeks of prolonged low solar output (typically November through January). With temperatures regularly dipping below -20 degrees C during this period, having our older 4cyl diesel Onan generator controlled remotely via my phone has given us the freedom to leave our home for extended periods of time without worrying about broken water pipes. Nick and Elena were awesome during the entire process, answering my incessant questions promptly and patiently. Once we were ready to hook-up our V7, both and Nick and Elena were there again, giving us fantastic customer service.

OUR SYSTEM: The V7 is mounted in a weatherproof box, which is placed within the generator shelter. The unit operates in the outside ambient temperature, and the unit has operated successfully down to -30 degrees C (I made sure to test it when the temperature dropped). The unit is powered by 12vdc and instead of using the generator starting battery to power the unit, I used 48vdc POE over a 40 m CAT6 patch cable, then used a POE-compatible dc-dc converter to reduce the voltage to 12vdc. The data connection is achieved via CAT6 cable and POE is injected into the twisted pair directly from the 48vdc breaker panel (off the battery bank). To ensure a good start each time, I keep an extension cord from the house hooked-up to the generator’s block heater and a 2amp battery charger hooked-up to the generator starting battery. The power to the extension cord is controlled by a smart switch, which allows me to remotely control the length of time the charger and block heater are operating. We used a Roadmaster 790 Hy-Power Diode to connect the V7’s starter cut-off switch (prevents racing the starter during start-up) but noted there was some voltage drop across the diode, so the alternator charges the starting battery at 13.8vdc, not 14.6vdc (which is why we use the 2amp charger, jic).

Once I had the unit wired-up, Nick remotely adjusted the programming on the unit to accommodate my start-up needs (timing for the glow-plugs, long shut-down sequence to ensure the fuel solenoid turned off, etc.). Aside from a few issues due to my poor familiarity with the App (since rectified), the unit worked perfectly. I have never heard the starter race during all the times I have used the V7 to start the generator, even remotely (I listen to the generator start-up via my Mobotix doorbell and camera).

Having the V7 attached to our generator has given my family the year-round freedom of travel we have been seeking since we moved out here in 2008. Our solar system handles our power requirements for most of the year, and we only rely on the generator for approximately 90 hours of use per year. But that sweet 8kW array (on Deger tracking system) doesn’t help you when the sun isn’t shining, your power system is failing, and you’re not home.

Thank you, Nick and Elena. Your patience, professionalism, and high-quality product means a lot, and I have no problem recommending your products to anyone, even those living in the frigid corners of North America.

Starting the generator manually

We are off grid and rely on Starlink here nothing els works here but the generator wifi does not link up and if you need to start it no way to do it it should have an option to manually push a start button even when internet is down . A electricly underside in development?????

Hi Axel.
If you are having difficulty in connecting to Starlink, please send us an email so we assist you. Have you followed the WiFi BLE setup instructions for the V5 AutoGen? It's available in the downloads page.
There is also a way to start the generator manually via pin#12
You can add a toggle switch between pins#11 & #12.
Pin#11 is a constant +12vdc, which also powers the current sensor.
When pin#12 senses +12vdc, it triggers an automatic startup and 0v will shutdown.
If you need any further assistance please feel free to contact us at any time.

good controller

It is a very good controller, just make sure to have someone install it for you if you are not sure how to do it. Customer service is very responsive and helpful.

A Great Solution

This was a great solution to the problem I was having. I built a go kart for my twin 10 year old grandsons and I did not want them to deal with the choke when they wanted to ride it. Now they get in, buckle up their four-point harness, turn the switch to on, press the start button and go. Glad I stumbled onto your YouTube video when I was searching for a solution to always having to set the choke even when the engine was warm.

Received as advertised - but not yet tried out.

I'm eager to get it installed into my 48V solar system, but will have to wait a month or so before I get a chance. Mechanically it looks to be high quality.

I have not started the generator due to not being able to connect to my internet which is Starlink. Have to find out if Starlink is allowing a 3rd party hook up. I’ve ordered a Ethernet access coupler and have not received it jet. So in the meantime I can not answer your questions

I am shure the product works fine, but i never got it working, disappointed in the packaging with absolutely NO instructions!??? The price you pay for this , it would be appreciated to have nice instructions and in a box and not a bubble wrap bag. And was missing my choke servo bracket.

The company was great, answered all my questions asap. Product works 100%.
Only issue that I see is fuel to engine is way to lean. My elevation is 1680 ft above sea level. Still working on that.

Unique product for a specific task

Needed to remotely control a generator to backup my solar battery charge when away from my cabin build site. Purchased the V7 and it works great. Looking forward to what other uses it can be applied for. Thanks guys!

Happy customer!

I had been looking at this generator for over a year. In April I opted to purchase a similar unit from the states which was larger and more expensive thinking the added horse power and American manufacturing would suit my needs. After waiting three months we were told the company had yet to even assemble the paid for product, we canceled the order because of poor customer service.
We then ordered this generator and within a few days it was in route to its new home in North Idaho. The generator is now installed and fully functioning and i must say the quality is beyond expectation. This generator is well thought out and designed and the customer service was excellent!
I would not hesitate to recommend this generator. I would like to thank Elena and Nick for their help and assistance.

Where can I purchase one of these in Canada or the United States

Cannot find a distributor in Canada or United States

Great Product For Generators

I know what you're thinking, it's kinda pricey! But it's actually not. You can go buy one of those Generac whole home generators and have it professionally installed for $8,000 to $10,000 dollars, or you can go buy a $1,500 dollar Duromax multi-fuel generator and the DC AutoGen for around $500 shipped and have the same thing. That's what I did and it works great! I have a Duromax XP13000EH generator which takes care of all my needs. But when the power goes out in the middle of a storm, I didn't want to have to go out to the garage in the freezing horizontal rain, thunder and lightning, to start the generator in the dark. The DC AutoGen does it for me with no human interference. Once the generator starts all I have to do is throw the main breaker over to generator power and my while house is up and running - EVEN THE CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONER!! The tech support is awesome, Nick and Elena have been on top of my issues right from the beginning. From start to finish I have about $2,500 into the whole project. Well worth the money.

Product works great

Good quality product, work as advertised.

Flawless

Does everything I needed it too and reliably,I’ve been very frustrated with other auto start setups for a while now and finally have one that just works

Installation

Very happy with the after sales service.
Elena went above and beyond to work through the issues created by me to make sure it all worked. Thank you so much. I would and will highly recommend.

Super Functional

This did exactly what I wanted it to do. I converted a Predator 3500 super quiet inverter generator into a remote start generator. I use it as AC power for my off grid soil laboratory. I charge my batteries while the generator also supplies power to my appliances through the inverter. The App is very clear and gives you what you want. It allows you to start and stop your generator, it gives me my battery bank voltage, and it tells me me running voltage. It has settings for turning on/off automatically based on my battery bank voltage or just on preset timer (also has quiet hours).

I put a couple photos below of the on and off wire connections on the Predator 3500. I also did the servo co!section for the choke.

I'm not super good at electrical but Nick was super helpful and after a couple of my mistakes we were able to push through and get it working.

V7 great!

Very useful and adaptable. Great support!

Great product, great support

I had been searching for a dc generator for a while before happening across these folks. It’s used as a standby generator in a 48v, off-grid solar system. There really is nothing out there that competes with this product. Extremely well thought out, compact, and reliable. I had several custom needs due to installation location and peculiarities of my application. Everything. I wanted addressed was done in a matter of minutes and uploaded to my controller. I’m going on my second year with the V5 48v unit and still have no complaints. Highly recommend this product, or for that matter, any of their products!
